Just to reassure Tanya my replacement is a Spitfire cable not a Stag one. They seem to be the same and the new one is new old stock.

So perhaps they're not as rare.

      Yep that's it - thanks.

So why would I have a clock adjuster on a car with no clock?

I suppose the dash might have been replaced or instruments changed but I didn't think that a Mark I had a clock. I've got fuel and oil pressure on the right, temp and volts on the left. I thought the clock came on Mark II instead of oil pressure.

After 42 years all sorts could have happened to the car - indeed a lot's happened in the 4 months I've owned it!

      Chris.
No Stags had oil pressure gauges originally.

Bob - then that explains it then. Must have been an early modification done to the car.

        Thanks.

Stuart - Mick Dolphin has supplied me with a Spitfire one which seems to be the same. I guess he'd post to the US - just email him mickdolphin@tinyworld.co.uk
