    Weber cutting out

Hope someone can help. Have driven about 300miles with the new Weber and seemed to be going OK. But now the engine splutters and cuts out completely. It will not restart. I'm probably overchoking it perhaps trying to restart. It feels as though the needle valve is sticking if there is one. Any way thats what it would be if it were a Stromberg. I first thought it was fuel pump but that's good. I'm getting a good spark. Plugs are a reasonable colour though there is some carbon on the gap. Have cleaned and replaced plugs, but same problem, starts runs smoothly for about 3 to 4 mins, then cuts out.

    Baffled and frustrated. Mike

Is the fuel pump working ? try the inertia cut out it could be a bad connection causing the pump to cut out .

Haven't changed supplier of Fuel. Unless they had a blip in their delivery. I have contacted supplier I'm sure he will be in touch. Mike

Hi Mike, After fitting mine I had a similar problem ,I had to strip the carb and clean out all the c**p. If you have to do this check the jets are in matched pairs, Hope this helps,John

Hello Mike i run a weber on my stag and i have not had any problems, but years ago i had a zodiac v6 with weber carb that started doing the same thing, just like John that turned out to be crap inside the carb, so my money is on that, and no i did not find out how the crap got inside the carb...Steve

There's a plastic strainer right at the fuel inlet on the Weber it could be blocked. Happened to me when I connected an old fuel pump that was full of debris.

Mike as well as all of the above.

This type of carb usually needs very little, if any choke to start the car.Maybe more so as the weather gets colder.
Usually a couple of dabs on the throttle before you start and away you go.

Once its started and its been running no choke needed at all to re-start as it will definitely flood it..

                      Mike,

Just a couple of observations that might help.

Having a clear filter showing 90% full does not mean that fuel is passing through a filter placed further downstream, nor does it indicate that the fuel pump is actually working. If the clear filter is located at a lower level than the carb float bowl, it will stay close to full if the engine quits in either of these scenarios. I'm sure you will have checked for actual fuel flow, I have only mentioned this for completeness, but any downstream filter could still be your problem.

                      Good Luck
