    At last no drip

Well after 4 attempts I have finally got no drip from my rear crankseal this time I used a double lipped seal and alls ok the first attempt was when a new crank was fitted which started leaking not long after the second milothedog kindly did for me (as well as the first)but also started leaking. The third I did but that time once I removed the box I fitted the rad and exhaust and ran it and it was leaking between the seal and speedy sleeve so replace with a ld part but started leaking again 100 miles later so this time I fitted a double lipped seal an success no leak and I've done over 200 miles.how nice it is not having pools of oil over the floor .been using daily in this lovely weather life don't get better than this

At least you know that the box goes in and out easily what with that and all 8 cylinders working it must be like a new car

You need to run a British bike or two along with the Stag (I've got a Triumph Bonneville T120 and a BSA A65) - it makes you much more resilient to the odd oil leak

Where was the leak evident from? I'm trying to track one from the back of my TV8 MOD car. It's not coming out of the bell housing drain hole but shows up on the engine backplate casting at the clutch slave cylinder.

Nick, it could be the core plug at the back of the jack shaft Deans leak was the rear crank seal which for some strange reason seems to have only been cured by fitting a double lipped one.

Ta I'd have thought a crankshaft end seal leak would have shown up from the bell housing drain- on a manual anyway.

My engine oil filter adaptor leak causes oil to drip down onto the cluch slave cylinder and it runs from there to the lower edge of the bellhousing. Any engine oil leaking from the oil filter/oil pump/transfer housing would accumulate there.

Nick, i'm not sure you understood correctly. I'm talking about the core plug in the back of the block at the far end of the jack shaft which is covered by the the bell housing adapter plate.
