Which pistons should I use?

Hi all. My name's Ant and I'm a stag owner (apparently admitting it is the 1st step!!). Have been searching the forum for a while and you seem like a friendly, helpful bunch, so I thought I'd post a query. I currently have 2 stripped engines ( one from my car and one bought off ebay). The plan is to use the best of each to hopefully make one good engine. The eBay one i think has high compression pistons? ( domed at the top) and I plan to use the block and pistons. The other engine has low compression pistons ( dished at the top), but the heads are better. So... Can I use the heads from the LC engine with the HC block and pistons? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi Ant. Basically MK2 heads are ok with any pistons but MK1 heads should only be used with MK1 pistons (dished if I remember correctly. The ref number will tell you which mark heads you have. I can't look up the number right now but if you can't find it on google let me know

Thanks so much for the info Goldstar. You may have helped me avoid a serious right testicle being dropped The heads are at my workplace so I'll check the numbers tomorrow. 4x4, it's Friday, so give it an hour or so and there's a good chance I will be!!
