    Bugger low water light on

Low water lamp came on tonight, water in the vee. Had a small leak for a while but didnt loose any water on the Essex trip. Looks like its coming ftom the WP slot. Had my pump refurbished a couple of years ago and fitted with a ceramic seal but it looks like it may have gone again. Will try some K Seal but Im guessing its time to fit an external pump.
Typical lovely weather and the Stags gonna be off the road.

Topped up the system and the leak seems to have stopped but will have to keep an eye on it. Sprayed some WD around the inlet manifold with the engine running and the engine note changed so it could be an inlet manifold gasket on its way out but there was definitely water around the water pump slot. Looks like the inlet manifold is gonna have to come off, question is do I go for external pump at the same time?

      Dave.
Can you get Topaz hoses for the Daddypump, is the deciding question.

        Hi Dave

It seems that it is now acceptable to have a bit of a leak from the waterpump.
        I dont agree with that.
Back when you could still buy new waterpumps from BL, when fitted you didnt have leaks from it.
Might have had hardening problems on a batch of pumps though..

I have had several problems recently with either re-sealed or recon pumps..all seem to weep or leak a little.

I have had for a while a Stagdad external water pump kit sat in my garage.
When I get round to my engine rebuild that will for sure be fitted.
It makes sense to have access to the pump without the need of removing the manifold.
I have not heard anything bad about the kit,so if I were you I would go for it..

Leak seems to have stopped and I've now added some K seal to the system, think I'm gonna go down the external pump route but hopefully do it over the Winter. Seems like I've also got an air leak on the inlet manifold, tried tightening all the bolts but its still there. Again I don't want to have to pull the inlet manifold before Winter if I can help it but I guess the leak means my mixture will be weak on a couple of cylinders, Is this likely to cause further damage?
