    Jackshaft play questions

My fitted Jackshaft has 003 thou up and down movement, what does the list think of this?, I presume there are no bearings that can be changed?, I also hope that the shaft has a constant thrust in one direction so shouldn't be a problem?

The other movement, if I turn it back and forth, the shaft moves in and out by 012.25 thou, is this acceptable?
(Good job I discovered this before removing my camchain sprocket to remove metal from the back as the sprockets line up perfectly when the jackshaft is rotated in its normal direction!)

Don't sound good to me Pete, I would speak to Russ before I went any further with it.

Three thou sounds fairly normal on an average engine, I would be happy enough with that, if it is getting to 7 or 8 thou oil pressure will suffer badly.

If the jackshaft keeper plate doesn't have a wear groove in it then I would ignore the end float.

As you mention the drive gears put an end thrust on the shaft so provided everything lines up when turned in the right direction it should not be a problem.
