I remember when this continual insurance thing came out, I read, well scanned, the details and thought yeh - whatever, blah de blah, more ways to make money for the government, I will be fine, I have insurance, what is that about SORN? well I have tax so why would I SORN? etc........basically, i suppose I just ignored it!
Anyway, seeing as how I had not got my Stag ready for its MOT (expired earlier in the month) I did not bother to renew my insurance until I had it ready and booked in for the test. So, it is booked in for tomorrow and I therefore phoned up the insurance company yesterday to get it insured (a different company, to last year).
The guy asked when did my insurance expire, I said the 2nd of July just gone, he said have you put your Stag on SORN? I said no, it is taxed until the end of the year, why would I? He asked if I had received a letter from the DVLA issuing me with a fine, I said WHAT!!!!!!!!!!! He then went on to explain how I was breaking the law............
So, don't be a muppet like me...........if you Stag is NOT insured and IS TAXED (VED) then you are breaking the law, as soon as it is not insured, you have to SORN it. Well, at least I think that's how it works............
Cheers
