Amusing lowered Beetle at car show

There's lowering and lowering a classic, but look at the ground clearance. Not enough to put a blade to cut the grass on it. He had to be pushed when he left.

He'll never make it back to Plymouth (*DR is a Plymouth number) like that

A bit like this Yank Tank at last weekend's local show:

That's the way the Veedub guys roll though, or don't.

Never sure of it is "lowered" (intentionally), or just collapsed with old age!

I like that Plymouth - then again I love a Yank car.

I'm really liking the 55- 57 Chevy trucks as well at the moment like this one i saw below at Crystal Palace a month of so ago.

Someone round the corner from me is doing up the a very similar pickup, almost identical. I'm watching his progress with interest.

Reminds me of my last trip to visit my sister who lives in Tennessee, similar pickup parked next to us outside the post office, except you could see the road through most of the bodywork......

When he stopped the driver pulled down the window by sticking his fingers through the gap at the top, and reached the outside handle to open the door. He then took a large block of wood from the cab and put it behind the wheel to stop it rolling away. Having finished in the post office he raised the window by squeezing it between his palms, one on the inside, one on the outside, removed the wood from behind the wheel and replaced it in the cab. Pulling the door shut by the window frame (obviously no inside handle) he then started it up and drove away.

Apparently they don't have the equivalent of an MOT in Tennessee, if it moves it is legal!

I made a quick trip to Blighty a couple of days ago. Driving up the M5 in Somerset yesterday morning I passed a long line of lowered Beetles, Combis and one Variant. They must have been going to a show somewhere. They were trundling along rather slowly - I assume because being lowered they do not handle too good. Don't see the point of lowering.

You are still responsible to ensure your vehicle is road worthy vehicle in all US States but there's normally no "MOT" until you sell the vehicle.
