Water pump rebuild

Hi all

While the engine is apart i plan to rebuild my previously good water pump with new seals etc.

Everything is good with the pump, gears bearing etc but it would be silly to put it back together with old seals.

Anyone done this got useful tips, trick etc. or does section 26.50.06 in the rom cover it?

If mine had been any good, I was going to get LD Parts ceramic seal and have the pump machined for it. Alas I ended up with a daddypump in the end.

Will order the kit and wing it unless any other folk have anything to add

I got the LD kit too. Beware: Peter mentions that the brass cage may need some machining for the seal to fit. Mine did, and quite a bit too. I have a lathe and could do it in a few hours, trial fitting between each shaving. If you don't have easy access to a machining facility it might become a pain. Also, I think the LD impellor is a machining service, so you have to send your impellor in to have it machined for the ceramic seal.
