Rear braided brake line supplied wrong type of end connection - how to fit it ?

Hi all, not sure if this an old chestnut or not but i'll run it by you anyway. Basically bought a full set of braided brake lines ages ago, but as I've gone to fit them the nearside rear end connection is wrong. The brake line goes directly into a three way connector and not into a nut the same as the other three lines. The fitting I removed was a short plain thread sealed with a copper washer, whereas the new line is a long thread flared at the end to correspond with a nut. Can I use this fitting? If so do I just wind it in a certain amount and fit a new copper washer? Or do I need a new hose (where can I purchase a single line?) Or maybe get an adapted fitting made up? If you've come up against this one please let me know the best way around it as i'm hoping to take it for an MOT before Summer disappears for the next decade!

    Cheers

    Hi Gordon,

When you say 'ages ago' roughly how long is that? Are they Goodridge hoses?

Several (10?) years ago I went to the factory as it is only a few miles away and asked if they did them for Stags. I was told yes and they made me up a set for collection the next day. I immediately discovered that they hade made both rear hoses the same, so I took the old rubber ones to the factory to show them. Full of apologies, they altered one on the spot and said they would change their patterns. So since then, all Goodridge ones should be correct.

Hi Dave, sorry for delay with reply been out working on it! Bought them approximately 6 months ago on ebay, they're not Goodridge hoses though i'm afraid just someone who advertised them as Stag parts. As the thread (parallel) is the same, the only difference being the "male" taper on the end of it, I've put it in and put a copper washer against the locknut and tightened it up. Have started to bleed the brakes and so far no leaks. Not up to full pressure yet as the replacement rear cylinders bleed nipple is so small I can't fit the bleed pipe to them! Do any of these after market bits actually work??!! Intend to persevere to see how it goes unless you or someone else knows i'd better not. Please let me know what you think and thanks for responding.
      All the best
