I would prefer not to use the copper pipe mod, so I will look at an alternative method. Has anyone that has fitted the external water pump mod come up with a different solution to using copper?

Hi Dave, I fitted Steves fantastic pump a couple of years ago but didn't opt for the return pipe attached to head studs as wanted to reduce the number of extra bits in case of failure - instead made up a pipe which effectively extended the heater return and ran it down the front of the head to the pump, I think it looks ok. Unfortunately I found the leaking Stag pump is replaced with leaking hose connections as there are so many but its a great improvement.

Try using a hot air gun / paint stripper watch out for the fuel lines but a nice hot manifold may just weaken the seal, worth a go.

        Hi Paul,
        Thankyou very much
I've got a collection of great tips, thanks everyone. The crowbar from the front won out in the end.
