Petrol pouring from carbs

Hi,
Just finished replacing inlet manifold and pump gaskets. Whilst the carbs were off I replaced the diaphragms and needle valves. Put back together with new float chamber gaskets, all looked good.
Tonight with everything back in place and much excitement I turned the ignition on and immediacy saw petrol pumping out of the upper breather pipe and vapour pipe. Filled the vee!
I'm sure it's a simple fix but I've had enough of stripping for one week, could anyone just point me straight to the problem to save a few more hours please?

I've heard on here that it is possible to get the float gaskets the wrong way around and they can foul the floats. Either that or they are a touch wide, either way the result is the same! Hopefully it is a simple fix for you.

You could easily have the floats in upside down, did you measure the heights ? Martin.

Oh, thanks Martin, I popped the floats out with the bar to replace the valve, bet I put them back upside down! Thank you so much.

I think I picked up the gasket comment from Martin originally, so he deserves credit for that as well!

Have a look in the ROM or the Haynes manual for a picture, and while you've got the float chambers off, it's well worth changing the O rings in the base, you can manipulate the plastic plugs out without too much bother. Martin.
