NO water in vee... is this normal?

Well its taken a week of grabbing an hour after work each day, but i've finally replaced the inlet/thermo/pump gaskets.
For the first time since I have owned the car there is no water in the vee!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to share this dry moment with you all.

(if only i hadn't messed around with the carbs, I might have been driving tonight. Running with less power than my lawnmower at the moment. Tick-over is fine so at least the neighbours think I'm handy with a spanner!)

I've still got a wet vee after a water pump rebuild, but I think it may be a failed WP gasket, I'll wait until winter before messing with it again.

I wouldn't worry too much for a while. When I rebuilt the water pump on the Stag engined Estate it liberally piddled out water to the point I had to run it with the cap off the header tank for the first hundred miles. For the next hundred I let it warm up before releasing the pressure, then I replaced the cap.

After three years but only about 2000 miles the V is dry at last!

Neil, I've clocked up 1800 odd miles this week, I leave it for a while and see if it beds in. This is the beauty of a header tank, you can see at a glance how much coolant has been lost
