Well it's reached my expectation of £14k with 5 days still to go , and looking strong - was interested in reading the vendors take on original v restored , suppose it's a matter of personal preference , and even mood . Some days I look at the magnificent paintwork & detailed finish on restored cars & wish mine had some of that , on other days I look at the mine and think no I like the original patina , and get pride out of making the best of what I have . Perhaps £17/ 18k - I do wonder how much impact the blue interior is having on bidding ? - If where just plain black ? - Steve

I had the blue trim removed form mine by Faversham's when i bought it as i prefer black but i think it looks really nice in this Stag probably because it is in mint condition thoughOriginally posted by stag888 View PostWell it's reached my expectation of £14k with 5 days still to go , and looking strong - was interested in reading the vendors take on original v restored , suppose it's a matter of personal preference , and even mood . it is making good money al;ready and i cant help but think it is being bid up.
I would hold out to the last minute/ seconds if i was going to place a bid on it or contact the seller and deal direct ideally
Who reckons it will top £20,000.00 !?!? I'd hate to pay the eBay fees on that if it does!!!Last edited by m9fdb; 21 August 2013, 09:28.

Seems the initial enthusiasm dried up, raced up to £14k with 5 days to go it's at £14,600 with a couple of hours to go , I think although not cheap, if it's as described , which this vendors feedback seems to back up , it could still be a decent buy for someone looking for a turnkey car. Lets see what the last few minutes / seconds bring...... Steve

Steve, I had contact with the owner of this Stag and I must say the story was the same as the advertised details. Not quite as elaborate . but it was only a telephone call, I must say I feel a bit sick really as I thought of buying it and selling it on , it was offered to me for £9500, It had been on Pistonheads for £13500 for about 2 weeks and then he reduced it. oh well ,,,, back to work,,,, !

In fact to claim it is un-restored is pushing the facts a bit (lot?) The plates with the body number and whatever the other one is are both painted white. That means it has had more than a simple blow over type respray, it has had a full respray and would lead me to be deeply suspicious of its "un-restored" claims it is however a lovely example, but maybe has had some serious marketing spin applied?

In my early career I worked for a BL Distributor and was employed to check new BL cars off the transporter and report any damage or discrepancies. I was responsible for the secure storage of the clocks supplied separately for the Wolseley 18/85s and the spare keys etc. I recall almost passing out when I jumped into a new Mini, MGBGT,Marina or Maxi during the Summer months to transport the car from the compound to the workshop to be PDI'd due to the gasses given off by the various adhesives used in the interior.Originally posted by Ian Durrant View PostIn fact to claim it is un-restored is pushing the facts a bit (lot?) I can tell you that a large proportion of cars had superficial damage or poor factory finish requiring paintwork rectification as part of the pre delivery inspection. So, my definition of an unrestored car is one which has not been welded or had panels replaced because if you regard any car from that era as an untouched factory virgin, you are most likely mistaken

In the blurb, did it say it's a shame to drive it? No trailer queen for me, trailer to mechanic maybe...Originally posted by dasadrew View PostShame it's not been tarted up with a metallic paint respray - would fetch much more ....
