Following on from an idea I had in another thread........
I know a guy, Norman, who used to work for Holsett (in Yorkshire?) and he used to work in the R&D department (or similar) he told me that he designed the VC fan and holds some sort of patent related to it. Anyway, that was mentioned in the other thread, so my tale here to kick of this new thread is Normans tale to do with the E Type Jag.
In the 70's his dept had the V12 E type in from BL (or whoever owned them at the time) because BL engineers could not cool the engine sufficiently. Apparently a bit of a crisis due to launch dates etc. Normans team were responsible for sorting it out, but I remenber him saying it was a nightmare of a project and the only way to solve it was by cramming in as many (electric?) fans as possible, they could not solve it with just their standard VC fans. There was so much heat generated by the V12 that they could not get the heat out of the bonnet fast enough! It was a few years back when he told me the story, but I think that's the jist of it.
Lets hear your 'insider' tales if you have any :-)
Cheers
Keith
