front suspension strut

I wonder if anyone who has rebuilt their front suspension could possibly help me out.

I have removed the damper from a strut by unpeening the top of the 'damper tube' and then unscrewing the 'cap' but the thread in the alloy cap is damaged.

I am referring to the alloy part that screws into the top of here:

I can't see this part offered separately (or even with a complete kit) by any of the normal suppliers, or am I being thick ?

If it isn't available separately, does anyone have a scrap leg that I can rescue the 'cap' from ?

New threaded caps came with the Spax inserts I fitted.

Julian new ones should come with a new damper, but iam 80% sure i have one in the garage, will have a look in the morning

Thanks Vince and Dave,

When I dismantled my car I found that my front suspension legs were all original. That meant that the 'tube' was simply partially filled with oil so I simply cleaned things up and refilled with damper oil and all works well.

I'd like to do the same on the legs I'm rebuilding now and so I won't be getting a new damper and so no new 'cap'
