    Oil Leak

    Hi again,
After fitting a new sump gasket, I still have a pretty bad leak of fresh oil on the drive.
I've had a good look around underneath and although it looks like the sump is leaking around the back, I think it may be coming from the oil pump.
Is there a gasket there and how easy/difficult is it to come off? I see there are 4 bolts, anything else I should know?
Is this something that would leak or should I be looking higher up?
    Cheers,
    Dom

Couple of O rings to change, also worth changing the transfer housing o ring too whilst you're there. I've got the same challenge, just fixed my leaking cam covers so need to sort the lower leaks now too.

Hi Dom There is a O ring no gasket, leak might be coming from the relief valve also a O ring on the oil pump. quick fix Steve

        Thanks Ian,
Transfer Housing is a new one for me!
I'll see if I can find the O rings on the Brothers site. Is the transfer housing known as any other name?

Does the oil pump need to come out to change the pressure relief valve o ring? Is there anything that can go wrong with this valve? I presume it expells oil when pressure is too high. Does anyone know at what pressure it starts to work. Can't find anything about it. Mike

It can be done in situ, but sometimes the bung is reluctant to come out once the split pin is out. There will be some oil come out when the bung does come out, and it can be a fiddle to get it back in and put the split pin back - I much prefer to take the whole pump off to do it.

It doesn't expel oil in operation to outside, but diverts the excess pressure from the pressure side back to the inlet, and is supposed to do this when it reaches 55 psi

Thank you for that. It's coming out again. Just out of interest do the two screws in the pump need seeling in anyway. Mike
