    Steering wobble

Some great posts on recent get togethers and good to see some good humour around.

I have seenthe recent posts on this but I am still suffering despite new ball joints and steering column bearings. The wobble used to be at 40-50mph and quite strong but that has gone. It is now when I brake. The brakes have been checked over and work ok.

Is it the track rod ends or some other bushes and if so which ones?

It is a shame as this is the only detraction as the car is running very nicely at the moment. Weather permitting!!!

Any advice would be most appreciated.

      Hi Mike

I had this problem and found it to be a loose wheel bearing cured it no problem.

Are your tyres true? When I bought mine, they weren't and up to 50 no problems, but above, all got a bit uncomfortable:shock:.

Jacked the car up and spun the wheels, and they had run-out - new tyres and the steering is fine up to very illegal speeds.......

Had wheel wobble on a 106 when i braked, tried 2 new sets of discs which didn't work .turned out to be the actual wheel bearing wasn't running true so was makeing the disc run out .It passed mot's like that because the brake test isn't done at speed but it was dreadfull and was proberbly like it from new .£10 worth of new front strut and hub from the scrapyand all was perfect.

So my guess is wheel bearing.

          Cheers Steve

I have had this problem caused by both worn track control arm bushes and misadjusted wheel bearings. Probably it was worse with the wheel bearing.

Thanks very much everyone. Bearings being delivered from LD Parts so will let you know if there is improvement.

It has been nice to accelerate through 50 without hanging on for dear life over the last couple of weeks.

I would be very surprised if it was not the wheel bearings, same thing on mine - changed them now no probs.

                  nice hood by the way
