    Tyre pressures

Hi all, new member, first post. I have new stag alloys with new maxxis tyres 185/80/r14 91t. Bit confused about tyre pressures. Original stag handbook tells me 26psi front and 30 psi rear. On these pressures car drives fine but front tyres look under inflated, a little bit flat in fact. If I inflate front to 30psi will I wear the tyres faster, will it effect handling? any suggestion? Thanks

I agree that 26 the tyres look and to me feel a bit flat. I run mine at 30 all round and it's much better. I've had no unusual tyre wear or anything.

      SNAP,

Every Triumph I have ever owned (and thats quite a few)! seems to work better with 30psi front and rear, and most of them suffer less wear on the front tyres as they are not trying to roll off the rim when cornering.

Try it and see what it feels like.

No nervous turn in with the higher pressures on the front? Might try it myself.

Totally agree with the higher pressure, run mine about 30 front and back, helps to reduce understeer & noticably improves turn in. Wouldn't go much higher though, it would begin to adversely affect braking.

                Just a question:

In the event of a calamity like an accident, would an insurance company consider running tyre pressures differing from the original maker's recommendations as grounds for rejecting a claim?

Maybe, when I changed my tyres to a larger size I notified the insurance company in writing along with other mods that I'd done.

Difficult to prove what the tyre pressures were if your car is a mangled wreck.
