    Oil and anti freeze

Hi, second post. Questions about oil and antifreeze. In the past I have always been used to using 20/50 oil. Finding it had to source at the mo. Can any other oil be used and where can it be purchased? Now the winter is coming, although my car has anti freeze, when is the best time to change it? and to what mixture? and what make/type? Can you use 100% antifreeze?

    Thanks in advance

    Mrk

Recommend 30% antifreeze mix - Millers do a blue ethylene glycol that'll do the job just fine...

Agree wholeheartedly with Glenn for Valvoline VR-1... perfect for the TV8

The chaps above have answered the questions.

However, many suggest that you should change the coolant annually (or 2 years at a stretch). When you come round to changing the coolant, remove the drain plugs from the block and if a trickle is coming out, remove the swarf from the block using a coat hanger etc. in the drain plugs.

No, there are two drain plugs on the crankcase itself. I shall find a thread .

As if by magic here is a thread clearly show where the drain plugs are in the block. It is good practice to renew the fibre washers around the drain plugs at the same time through the usual suspects (Wards, James Paddock, Rimmers etc.).
