As a young'un I have been a member for coming up to 5 years and have attend 3 National Days which were all very good especially the first one in Chester.
When I said I did not have any friends before the forum what I meant was I found people very unwilling to talk to members my age as if we should not have a stag.
This I found annoying as I have had Triumphs in my family since I was 10 and know a lot about them, in other words I have a lot to give to the club as well as a lot to learn from the members who have 'been there done that'.
The forum allows me to talk to people a lot older than me without any prejudice towards my age unlike when you pull up and your the only one under 50 at the meet!
I know not all members are like this and this is my own experiance and view but thats how I felt prior to joining the Forum.
Bob I attend my first N&N about 3 months ago because of the Forum and have enjoyed them so far.

Well put, Bob. I too have been a member for many years and in that time only met a small number of local members. Until I became Area Coordinator this year I did not realise how many members we had in the area. Like you, only about 10% are active. Fortunately some of these are young'uns.

Sorry Guys, but I have to disagree with you here. I regularly go to National Days and have met many like minded members/friends by doing this, the same as we have on the forum. I have been a member of the club for many years and have found that you only get out from it what you put in. Although I am Co-ordinator for West Sussex, believe me that can be a thankless chore but it helps hold the club together. In my area there are about 130 members and we have a hardcore of about 10% that attend meetings or events, many of the others I have never met although I try to hold events in different parts of the area. By being Co-ordinator I am expected to attend A.G.M.'s as well - yes the Dinner Dances! and we have quite a good weekend out of it. The Dinner Dances are really a meal and a disco nothing more. There is no reason why members of the Forum can't get together at theA.G.M.and have a meal, chat and social evening together and all be seated on 1 table and have a say in the running of the club that you have joined. After all the forum is less than 10% of the club membership and about 30 of the members that have signed up to it make regular contributions. How many of you went to local area meets before you spoke to somebody on the forum? Personally I like to have the mag. I also like the activities here on the forum and have met some great guys here, I think it would be a great shame if the club split because the two will not mingle. Remember you only get out what you put in -look at Brands!
