Hi, I have had a lot of trouble with the heater control valve on my stag. The manual saysto put the screw back in and use it to pull out the valve... but of course it was so jammed up in there it would not come out and I damaged the inlet solder joint. Has anyone come up with a modification a) to remove the valve and b) a modification to make it operate more freely? I have cleaned both parts of the valve assembly and it is still difficult to operate especially since there is a pathetically small flat surface for the lever to grip on to. Looking at the mess I have created getting the heater unit out makes me feel as if I will never get it together again.

Thanks Stagdad that gives me some ideas. I might tap a thread in the brass barrelto one side of centre and bolt the lever toit, that should solve the grip problem. I searched for a couple of hours trying to find a boltto replace the center screw but could not find the correct thread type.
