A rather unseemly gap

So the B post inners, at the rear, I have this gap that doesn't look right.
I have short self tappers that attach the Stainless trim, should I have longer screws that actually screw into the B post itself to draw it all in?

Hi you will need longer ones, they need to screw into metal, use self tappers so it pulls in
