    Apple I07 Update

Downloaded the update to my phone today. Just finished yawning as I could see no real update except to change my icons to what looks like children's stickers, oh and, now has white backgrounds with grey text or thinner text. Browser seems larger but certain websites dot allow you to expand or stretch the screen, for example Amazon.

Took just over 90-mins to download, so quick

    Oh well, had to update

Am I missing something about this big hype of what we will get

I've been running it on a 4S and an iPad mini for 5 weeks or so now and I really like it, better on a 5 as you get airdrop but still an improvement.

Did mine last night, only difference I can see apart from appearance is that you can swipe up on screen before putting security numbers in, and you get access to a torch, calculator, camera and alarm clock.

I'm fed up I phone to be honest. The new layout is the same as current Samsung I'm sure. I think it's great if you run everything mac iPad. I so get frustrated moving pictures and albums and adding music. I'm on orange contact and I am constantly walking up and down the road in the rain trying to get a signal. My old brick years ago had better coverage

Currently disappointed with the new style of camera control, I may feel differently in a week.
airdrop is useful (but is really just catching up with others)
I like the single-swipe access to control centre.
Voice-only FaceTime (free calls) will be good competition for the likes of Skype
finger-print ID will be very big.... Give it 6 months and many people will have seriously reduced their use of oasswords and will reply on the print ID.

the really interesting one is the linkage to car manufacturers ...... iOS7 in the car will give apple a whole new area to influence.

Downloaded it to my Ipad last night, to be honest its brought it in line with my Apple Mac, Airdrop is very handy on the iPad as the rest of family have iPads, iPhones etc. My only problem is my ageing 3GS doesn't have the new software, but that should be sorted soon. I guess I'm an iPhobe since ditching Windows last year in preference for Apple which has made life so much easier, don't miss Microsoft at all, even ditched the ubiquitous Office product for the Apple equivalent

Other than being a very satisfied customer, I have no commercial connection with Apple

Interesting. I was always Microsoft and Outlook at work and had them at home. My sons work in the computer world and are Apple addicts. Some time ago they gave me some mega expensive, super dooper Apple (Imac ?). Can I get used to it ? Can I heck - it drives me bloody crazy. I just keep coming back to my good old Dell laptop with Windows 7 and Outlook something or other.

                Cheers

Interesting. I'm iPhone and iPad but remain a PC for desktop and that won't change! Too used to Office and despite Microsofts problems Macs aren't immune to issues. I haven't updated to iOs 7 yet and will see what anyone else reports back. Please keep adding comments about your experiences.

                    Hello all

I converted to Apple a while back and use Microsoft Office for Mac, which gives you Word, Office, PowerPoint. It also gives you Outlook though I prefer Thunderbird for email and use Firefox for browsing. I also use Crossover, which is a low-cost way of creating a virtual PC environment for running PC software such as Visio that isn't available for Apple hardware. Mostly I run software that us designed to run on the Mac, though, and generally the Mac platform and applications seem very stable compared with PCs.

                    Best regards
                    Philip

There's a useful review of IOS7 here http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-...1157782/review it explains a lot of the detail that isn't immediately apparent.

My business partner was reading up on 4G and apparently orange are using lots of frequencies for 4G that used to be used for making calls. apparently 4g cant make calls natively so it has to drop back to 3G, so the lower number of available 3g call channels is still being used by the same number of phones, hence dropouts and sometimes no ability to make or receive cakls at all. it all sounds a bit of a mess.

From my office Geeks in our basement......

"Since the IOS7 release we have been monitoring and testing the new OS. Please be aware that the IOS7 now has a restriction on non-apple accessory use, this means that if you upgrade your IPhone to IOS7 you may not be able to charge your IPhone if you no longer have the originally supplied Apple cable.

At this time we recommend you do not upgrade to IOS7 or make sure you have an original Apple cable for charging. "

So, you'll need to give Apple some more money to keep it running when their cr~p cable breaks again - average life 3 months!

                            Progress...?

                              Same with us Dave,

if you look at the EE 4g coverage area for our area on their website we are apparently awash with it BUT can we get 4G on the phone....

No - it is a complete con helped along only slightly by the rebranding of Orange to EE to make it seem like you are getting a better deal/cover - you are not.
