    Front side lights

I am currently carrying out a light restoration to the Stag with a hint of modern technology so the kids might one day want to inherit it.

I know the purists are going to throw up but never mind.

The car is being dechromed in a similar style to the Gary Stanfield car. (British V8's website). 16" alloys with 205x55x16 Goodyear F1 tyres. Colour will be cherry red metallic. If the wife allows there may be twin silver stripes across the top. It has a Nissan R200 LSD, Toyota 5 speed W55 gearbox and the engine is standard except for a bit of a grind on the cam, the edelbrock carburetor, sports manifold and exhaust system. Nissan 4 pot caliper brakes, spax adjustable shocks and lowered standard springs.

The car looks great with the clear indicator lens but has anyone who bought them considered changing the orange side lights on the front wing to a white lens. I have been looking into getting something suitable but no luck to date. Thought of getting something manufactured but that costs a small fortune.

    Appreciate any ideas.

    Cheers

Do you have any pictures to post?

If you fit white indicator lenses, will that be legal in NZ?

I have clear indicator lenses fitted, I like the look, I changed my wing repeaters to US cruise lights and am happy with them. I'd like to see some pics of your car too please.

I have clear indicator lenses fitted to the front of mine, they are Italian spec lenses bought from Rimmers.

The car is still in the bodyshop so a bit early for pictures but will start posting as soon as there is some body colour. I would like to see the cruise lights if you have pictures. I checked with our local warrant of fitness garage and as long as the light is orange it is OK.

You forgot to mention recessing the headlights an extra inch. Which I'm claiming as my idea.

Hi Nick, With recessing the headlights are you going to replicate the front of the original prototype with its sliding headlight covers. An interesting project. Cheers Ian A

Hadn't thought of that. I always thought Stag headlights stuck out a little too far and with de-chroming and bumper removal this would look even more pronounced.

Hi Ian, No I am replicating this. In the best possible taste of course.

                      Kenny Everett would have approved.
