Sorry for not answering for so long.I'm going with the chap in Kent - Southern Trimmings or whatever it's called. Actually it's a one man band. So many positive comments about him makes it worth the drive. I'm disappointed about rimmers - usually they're good and quick with their stuff. Seems like they're not very hood savvy. I also have another issue - my hard top - which was leaning - covered - in my back yard fell over onto concrete. Feel free to grimace.....

Jim is having holiday at the moment in case you could not contact him.

Do you happen to know when he might be back?
I don't want to spam him with loads of emails while he's on holiday.

If you don't know I'll guess at 14 days since that's the 'standardish' proper holiday duration

You could try just one email, but I would phone his mobile.

Calling someone on their mobile when abroad. Not the best way of striking up a friendship!

If you think Stag soft tops are bad... (well they are really) a colleague in Wellington NZ has a modern Peugeot convertible. He can't ever put the top down because it needs a French mechanic to get back up again!!

Is it me..If someone is in business(albeit a one man show) and then goes on holiday, they should make arrangements with either a telephone message or out of office reply to let customers know..
Pussyfooting around them because they haven't done so is really not your responsibilty..

                      My opinion

Absolutely, we use a call answering service and the cost is minimal when you compare it to missing a call from a customer or a prospective customer. Failing that why not record a voicemail saying I'm away for a few days, leave a message or email me and I will get back to you on my return?

If you are in Europe answering calls is relatively cheap now anyway - certainly cheaper than missing customers.

Well, I've used e-mail and I got responses 'pre-holiday' but haven't had one with a a very recent 'are you back' - as it were.
Does anyone know if he's back from 'absence'?

I got an email reply - he's off to see family on Wednesday - but I don't think I'd press someone to do a load of work over the festive season anyway.

I'll be catching up with him in the new year.

I'm seriously looking into getting an outdoor carcoon for the car. Has anyone got/tried one? They're quite expensive but look the biz!
