That's what you call real gas guzzling. No doubt the fellow has deep pockets.

Seems a tad unlikely to me - that would be 63000 miles a year, or 172 miles a day, every day.

Take time for maintenance, over 3000000 miles that must be quite a few engines, gearboxes etc, family holidays etc then that must be averaging over 200 miles per driving day.....

I know America is big, but this smacks of exaggeration or a very optimistic trip recorder/odometer (maybe km?)

11 years for the last million, that's 250 miles per day every day!

This car has been well known for many years, but I agree with Russ, that is one heck of a lot of driving......

That would be 125 sets of timing chains on a Stag....

You must remember America claimed many things to win the second World War including cracking the Enigma code.

Stunning car. We would love to own a P1800. It's a matter of finding the right one for a resto at a low price which is difficult given how much good runners go for.

At the opposite end of the scale - I bought a Honda Jazz for my parents today.
Since it's last service in December last year, it's done 600 miles.
In the near four years of it's life - it's done 3968 miles.
So clean - I think it mush have been garaged too.
It is, quite simply, as good as new!

                A good find I think.

Easily done depending on your trade .

My dad's Mondeo did 389k when I acquired that from him. The engine was amazingly sound, but it was on its second gearbox by that time. That was 8 years old at the time. I do wonder whether scrapping it when the gearbox failed for the second time was the right decision (two cars after that with far less miles both gave me far more issues).

The other week I drove a 52 plate Wrectra (sorry Vauxhall fans ) with quite a crazy mileage to it. That car however is like Trigger's broom (IIRC it's on its 3rd engine, 2nd or 3rd gearbox, and many suspension bits).

In terms of classics though, none of mine have come close (the Porker is on 176k, although many mechanical bits on that have been seen to). Who has the highest mileage Stag I wonder?

My white Mk1 had clocked up 189,000 on its original engine when I sold it over 5 years ago. It is still on the road in Northern Ireland, but I don't know what is on the clock now........

A long way from 3,000,000 miles though

mine says 65,000 on the clock, but that could have some thing to do with, the cars not been on the road for the last 20 odd years
