Edit - forgot to mention that when trying to trace the fault I noticed that the right hand front indicator repeater comes on when the parking lights are switched on and not when indicating. The other side works OK. I think someone in the past has been messing with the wiring. That job is on the list now as well.

Dip Lights
Both my dip lights have stopped working. Both fuses are OK and 12v either side of them. Makes me think a plug and socket have come apart somewhere. Anyone know if there is a plug and socket behind the parcel shelf at the back of the fuse box area? I could remove it and find out, but it is a real pain to do and I thought it would be easier just to ask on here first. I had the parcel shelf off a while ago to get at the heater controls, so maybe my clumsy hands have done something.

Don,
Have you actually checked the bulbs?
A chance in a thousand - I once had an overcharging alternator that blew both bulbs at the same time.
If the bulbs are OK I might take a look at the dip/main switch.
Good Luck

Don,
The problem with the RH indicator is most likely down to a poor earth on that light unit.
Headlamps could also be due to the sme thing, but I'd be a bit suspicious as both went off at the same time! Mind you, I can't remember the wiring in there (despite doing it all only 18 months ago!).
I'd remove the grill and check aorund in there....

Steve, I have not checked the lights themeselves as I thought it would be too much of a co-incidence for both to go at same time - but I now will do that. The fuses are downstream of the switch and they have 12 v on them, so the switch must be OK.
Mike, I put the car in the barn yesterday, so I'll get stuck in to fault finding and lots of other oustanding jobs.
It is now the MGB's turn to scoot about for a bit.
Thanks for advice.

Hello all,
Got stuck into it this afternoon. One bulb was open circuit and the other had indeed a bad earth connection in the corroded bullet connectors behind the grill. Waggling the connector got the light going on and off. One earth wire was also hanging on by a couple of strands and was getting a bit warm. My French bullet coonectors are a smaller size, so tomorrow I'll see what my car-wise Brit neighbours have in their squirrel stores. Failing that, I'll just cut off the bullets and "chocolate box" the wires and waterproof it. My car has been resprayed twice in its life, but in there where the wires are is somewhat original.
Thanks again.
