water pump rebuild

hi,i have removed my water pump due to leaking and would appreciate any tips,i have removed brass cage and marked it a bit will i have to renew it,also do i need to remove the bush at the bottom ,thanks

the original factory workshop manual gives a very good description of how to do it.

It refers to a special tool but I just made one with a large hole in a piece of wood.

You'll know of my involvement with this if you read my 'It's Broke' thread.

Marks on the Brass portion may not matter much as the two 'O' rings do the actual sealing, and if that area is not damaged it might still be OK. But still, you might rethink the whole thing after considering how some of us have replied to your other thread.
