    LPG Gas Conversion

    Hi

I have an LPG gas conversion kit that I got with my MK11 when I bought it (not fitted I might add). The last owner stated it was all complete.

The question is has any member any experience of fitting these or possibly has a Stag with one already fitted?

    Thanks

    Austin

I have seen one Stag converted on LPG run by Ashley who was once part of John Kipping's Triumph crew of workers (those involved in the Herald/Spitfire cirlces may know whom I am referring to there ).

I would have thought that as long as your kits are similar to RPI engineering you should be OK. As for any LPG kit on a car correct installation is paramount. Not only from a safety POV but of also ensuring reliable operation.

I have pondered over converting my Stag to LPG but I have yet to have the need (it will do close to 30MPG on a run), plus I have a daily which runs on it (along with the other predecessors )..

        Stocky,

Thanks for the thought, kind of you to think of me.

        51ab,

I made up my mind a long time back to keep business and my hobbies (myriad, but Jags and Stags figure) quite separate. I try to help other forum members with car problems when I think I have something useful to add, but I draw the line firmly at LPG. It's part of my living and I need to get paid for what I do, like anyone else.

Hopefully this policy also saves any potential infringement (on my part) of the forum rules which are in contention yet again today, involving an apparent mixture of business interest and club involvement (no judgement made on that here BTW).

The best thing I can do is to mirror what Chas R has said. It is imperative that any installation is not only made up of suitable components but installed to current regulations (UK LPG COP 11), the work preferably being done a certified installer and registered on the UK LPG database.

You are welcome to contact me privately to help you decide where you go from here with any proposed installation, but I have to warn you that we do see a lot of kits sold or passed on with cars as being suitable, although curiously never fitted. Most often, such kits turn out to be something less than they need to be.

        Regards

        Steve
