    Newbie

    Hi all.
First real post to the forum.
Recently bought a stag, and guess what. Loads of welding, paint and sleepless nights, but it does run and not (touch wood) overheat!!!!
I don't care though, because it is a boyhood dream come true for me after taking early retirement from the NHS.
I have been reading the forum for a few months, and already found a few good hints etc. so hello and thanks already.
I live in North Yorkshire (North end) anyone around here? Be good to meet up and natter. I also run a 1200 herald for my everyday car and the stag will be pressed into use as well as soon as the paint is dry. Got rid of my modern car as it was too boring, just as well my wife likes old things.!!!!!!!!!
Speak to someone soon, as I think this is a bit like AA for triumphs, I hope.
    Regards
    Dave.

Welcome Dave. I bought mine two years ago and its still in bits. In fact I'm lapping in valves tonight. Every time I get stuck the forum really helps. I'm lucky to have made good friends from the forum and my local club.
Good luck with your stag. We all love pictures if you fancy posting some.
      Cheers for now. Edd

        Hi Dave

Got the Stag and a Mk1 2 litre Vitesse currently, the latest in a very long line of small chassis, small monocoque and big saloon Triumphs - you'll find lots of fellow sufferers in this loony bin - welcome!

          Welcome too from me Dave.

I think all that I can say has already been said but, like you I bought mine (my second) after early retirement. It's a great hobby if you enjoy it and as you've already got the Herald it sounds like you do

          Cheers

Welcome Dave, my Stag is my first and only Triumph, so I bought a Daytona to go with it! Writing this I've just realised I've had my Stag for 7 years!! Where has the time gone?

              Welcome Dave,

My Grandfather had a Herald when I was a kid and always Jaguars as his main car but the Herald must have impressed me enough to buy a 1600 Vitesse as my first car at 18 - it was rotten but fanatastic fun and totally reliable!

In between I've had lots of different Triumphs every one good - the Stag is definitely the best and will be with me until I shuffle off this mortal coil!

              Enjoy!
              Mike

Welcome Dave, from another "wanted a Stag for 40 years" hopeless addict!
Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

                    Dave

You must have got yours around the same time as we did - earlier this year. It was a hanger queen for quite a while pending sorting out the cooling - the engine had all the parts of a cooling system but not necessarily in the right order!? On the road now and as we're a 71 we're not off the road now on a SORN.

We're East Yorkshire but hail form York. Perhaps we'll see you out and about on a run with the North Yorkshire guys some time? I think that they're quite active but I haven't met any of the "Andies" yet (what is the plural for "Andy?")

A friend has also got a Herald. He's in the middle of sorting the chassis at the moment so it's not on the road. In fact it's a bit of a state at the moment.

You'll. find the forum really useful - just ignore the gripes of recent weeks. It's a great help for those of us who haven't got much experience with oily bits.

                    Hopefully see you soon.

                    Chris.
