    Practical Classics article this month

Nice to see a positive article about the Stag for a change this month.......

They are doing a comparison on what they think are the 3 most popular British classics , the Stag, MGB and Mini

He really seemed to like the Stag.....

I must say that I was a little worried about the outcome of Russell Brookes testing a Stag against an MGB and Mini Cooper on the track. However he loved the Stag, maybe being an ex-Triumph product manager helped.

i find that most of the recent tests have been on the good side they normally say that as long as the engine is good then you cannot go wrong ,but a rebuild can be 3k, as well we know the biggest advantage of the stag is the 4/5 seats.

my copy arrived today so have a gander later.

The MGB is a nice car but the windscreen suroundis at the completely wrong height (at least for me) but I wouldnt say no to a nice V8 Roadster - especially the one we saw at Bromley Pageant.

Just finished the article in WH smiths (well i'm not going to pay £3.99) - I can't remember the last time I saw a bad write up on the stag, and yet in the very same mag they say that it is the MGB that is going up in price!

that was a nice bit of kit mrb but the plate was a bit chavvy for me, the nice thing about that sort ofcar is when its a bit in disguise.........v12 xjs's for example....did you know you can get xk8 convertibles for 7.5k these days?

                Nick,

even I could change the plate - one job I would be 100% certain about...

an 8k xk8 - is that one of your deals or market price

They had an XK8 in the garage last week when I went for my M.O.T. The fitter said it was in for service. They ordered original front pads for it -£245 per set, they sent them back and got copies at £34.

blimey these xk's are cheaper than expected. That must be, in part, the new road tax charges coming down the line - the 4.0 litre has to be top bracket?

                        Very tempting though......:dude:

New engines seem to be a popular option judging by the adverts on piston heads. Definately one I shall investigate in the future.
