    cant lower my idle speed

As it says above can't lower my tick over speed its about 1000 rpm and is causing it to clunk when engaging gear. I have checked for air leaks and can't find any. And the adjustment screws are fully backed off. Any ideas much appreciated. Garry

    cant lower my idle speed

You've posted in the wrong section old chap, however usual suspects are throttle cable too tight, throttle links between the carbs incorrectly adjusted and holding one carb open, choke cable/fast idle cam stuck or wrongly adjusted or a big air leak.

Reckon its probably the carb linkage though....

Possibly engine timing a little advanced, if above advice doesn't work try retarding ignition by a degree or 2.

Also worth checking if the N/S carb breather pipe is touching the throttle rod, as supplied these are often too long needing trimming to prevent the throttle from being held open.
