    Windscreen finisher

I know the windscreen chrome bit has been covered lots of times before, however
Does the trim actually do anything or is it purely decorative.
I know on some other cars it acts as a tensioner,is this the same on the Stag..?

If it just decorative is there something else trimwise that could go in there that is not so blinkin tricky to fit..

Also does anyone know the best supplier for a top tint screen..

    Thanks

    the trim is just decorative
when they fit a screen they use rope or string around the rubber and pull to get the rubber in, have you tried using the same trick to fit the trim,or fit the trim to the rubber before you fit the screen

there is some one on ebay that sells a new tinted screen

i will have to put my words into action when we refit my brothers screen but not yet

      Re tinted Screen
Hello Sam. Obviously I don't know how tall you are, but a word of caution if you have not sat in /tried a car with a top tinted screen. I am just over six feet tall and have one fitted. If/when I have to replace it I will be going for a clear screen. My direct line of vision is through the tint. Even the tiniest clouds look like storm clouds, and dull days are absolutely full of them.

Have you tried winding your seat down as much as it can go, I have a top tint and no problems at all, then again I am not over 6ft but do have the seat back as far as it can go

Thanks Andy, Yes I have tried all the permutations and settled for somewhere between clear view and comfort.

The windscreen installer I used suggested that I cut the back off the trim and glue it on! I didn't do it but it's a option.

Sam, Pilkington lists the Stag Ian their classic range (under Austin Morris) part number 2232 on their website http://www.pilkington.com/europe/uk+...rris+riley.htm. Doesn't mention tint but might be worth giving them a call?

                Cheers

On the trim subject, but a different issue, mine is coming adrift at the bottom centre of the screen. I'm scared to touch it in case I make it worse. Is there a method of getting it back into place on the rubber?

                        Hi Don
Its worse trying to get it back on the corners.
You should be able to get it back in on the straight bits ok..just mind your paintwork
I'm guessing you have the small joiner piece in place..
