Nissan 6

Hi

new to the forum juststumbled overit and very impressed,

aquired a rag tag stag last year and got it roughly back to where it wants to be, needs a touch more paint but generally getting there.

Currently thinking of engine swaps, has a 2500s in at at present, not to keen to go back to the original V8 as it is now unoriginal I personal think time to habe some fun,

Therefore do any of you knowledgeable souls know if it is possible to get a nissan 6 into a stag, thinking of an RB25 as have some friends who are big into skylines and can get parts at very low cost, also the performance could be good fun....

Hi Bentos and welcome.

You better look at uprating the drive train if you are going with skyline sort of power.

I am thinking of dropping a standard non turbo lump so the horsepower figures are around 195. I thought the stag drivetrain and brakes would be able to handle that sort of power, any more and yes more work would be needed.

For now though it is a case of working out what will fit in the hole without to much chopping about.

The Nissan V6 (VG30DET) is an awesome motor with huge power but you would have to fit a new diff like a BMW LSD or similar. The length of the V6 is very short and it should fit width wise as well.

I think the Stag needs a V8, preferably a vintage one. Why not go with a Ford 302 small block as it weighs about the same as the Stag engine. You can pick a runner up for a few hundred.

now that is an interesting idea which is worth some thought, other suggestion was a volvo T5 powerplant, someone has dropped one into a gt6 so should go easily into a stag need to check on mounting space though
