    The Forum

Has anyone else noticed how slow and dull this forum is now. A couple of well interned people have tried to inject some life and humor back in to it, dare i say with little response, but after recent events it's changed so much. At times on evenings weekends hours go by without anything changing.

Is this how it will be from now on, just a technical resource

It may be your toy now Ian but to many owners especially the newer ones here the support they get is a lifeline to them. You only have to see their comments, but you know that already, you were one of the many helpful contributors.

It will liven up soon I'm sure. Its harder for those experts on here that hear the same questions. Header tanks. Stainless stell bumpers ya de ya Before we had a nice blend of non stag related topics and i hope those will continue for sure. Imagine going to the pub and saying to your mates ok tonight we only talk about this topic anything else and your going home. I must admit to being put off after the last fiasco I laugh when people who moaned about it continue adding to non content topics and fantastic I hope they continue as its great to talk in the words of Bt.

I should just add here that I have no desire or intention to upset any of our valued members (British or not) from overseas (just in case someone gets the wrong idea) - my rant is purely aimed at the use of the term "British" when something isn't.

          K?

Variety is the spice of life they say, so it's good to have posts going off topic now and again, and some more humour injected into the Forum.
Hopefully it will get back on track and become a more varied and interesting resource again. A purely technical reference document is not what it's about, well not in my opinion.

Why do you say "Toy" I come on here to interact with fellow Stag owners some of who have become good personal friends. When the S**T hit the fan a while ago I said my piece and retired to the side lines as like others I was disgusted with what happened and have only just started posting again now as I saw a glimmer of hope for the forum. But as some have already said it's too stiff and folk need to lighten up a little. there are those that quote the meaning of a forum as they are entitled to do but before this it was a great place with all the banter and jokes, hence member of the year.

And the term "were", I still do don't I, I spent the last 15 years of my working life in the motor trade, which I have worked in all my life, teaching people young and old the skills and knowledge to be good at what they do and gain formal qualifications to become professionals. I enjoyed doing it as I do helping people on here with no personal gain for myself other than the satisfaction of helping others with their hobby.

I see no reason why we can't laugh and joke and not be fearful of upsetting someone, saying the wrong thing or being told off. nothing on here has ever been so bad that you would not have seen it on the TV which at the moment nobody is telling me what I can and cant watch or hear.

To quote Jeff the other day "Lighten up people"

                Ian.

I dont think its dull and boring, and at least its not unfriendly now.

I think some have backed off a little with their 'humour' and are just being cautious so as to avoid another escalation. Given time I am sure it will liven up, but hopefully will not get out of hand again like before.

All: the fact alone that this debate is carrying on unmolested must tell you something...........all mods and admin are tasked to do, is to ensure the published rules and guidance for the forum are adhered to.

Those are here: http://www.stag.org.uk/forum/showthr...e-of-the-forum. No-one ever got run out of Dodge sticking to those rules.

I can't see where those rules preclude non technical discussions, and in fact they ask you specifically to be "helpful, humorous, interesting, and polite", so good humour is explicitly encouraged!

Of course, the very last lines of the "rules" are interesting of themselves..............

Wilf, Thank you for taking the time to post this but I'm confused as you quote "so good humor is explicitly encouraged" but Carl has clearly stated "No Jokes allowed"

                          Ian.

Thanks for your point Ian. I understand where you are coming from.

As Carl has explained, "joke threads" just have too much potential for "isms" or to cause offence to be safe. But there is plenty of room still for humour, it doesn't have to take the form of an explicit joke.

One man's light hearted joke is another's mortal insult I guess.
