I have a house that is empty and have had no bills for 2 years and there was no standing charge..
Now they want to put a standing charge in place so i have nothing to compare with..

And that aside why shouldn't we be able to see what the price per unit is from company to Company easily..

Its like the car salesmans ploy with a "cost to change" figure, leaving out all the hidden bits that he doesn't want you to see..

In effect the gas price is driven by market, government and demand. The most cost effective wsy to recover huge quantities of gas is to use fracking. There are so many nimbies around thst is being prevented from being used and so we are stuck with current ancient methods.
By the way I changed my gas supplier last night. Took twenty or so minutes ..is it much cheaper? for a few month maybe.
      Well said that man!

Glad I fixed mine until July 2015 last month before the current round of price increases raised their head- did an analysis of the competition, but stayed loyal to my current supplier, there wasn't much in it to bother changing.

      bring on the Fracking!!

The funny thing is they mostly use coal and its the good old ohh so green Australians who sell it to them . They are a fickle bunch , protect the great barrier reef but lets burn a few million tons of coal , they cant even ofset as most of the country is baron .

I've just gone with First Utility. Was paying £190 per month for gas / elec combined. It's gone down to £150 although no doubt it will creep up a bit more bearing in mind we're heading into winter. Fixed until April 2015.

Cheers guys. Just switched from BG to First Utility with a price fixed to 30/4/2015. £100 per year cheaper than I'm currently paying, so it will be quite a bit cheaper when the BG rise comes into force.

I see the next supplier has made their announcement this morning. Won't be long before we have the full set.

Nothing has been more certain since the first one made a move. The only uncertainty had to be the size of the rise
