As you guys are aware I overcame my recent misfire eventually.
The Stag was running really well I took advantage of the one dry day last week to do the 25 miles round trip to a tyre place so that they could swap the tyres over to some different alloys that I picked up. When I got home I put her away, I returned to her after a few minutes turned on the ignition and the warning lights ie oil/ign & handbrake were really dim. She would tum over at the normal speed but she was clicking asif not enough power was getting through and wouldn't start.
I was ready to throw the towel in- I clearly had a major power drain or a bad earth but I couldn't find it. In addition the indicators were not working.
I called in a recommended auto electrician- With the ignition on there was only 2volts on the positive side of the coil and we then had a little smoke in the cabin.
The problem was the new Lucas coil that I fitted 2 weeks ago had a 100% earth ie its casing was connected to the terminals internally. This was causing the wiring inside the car to get rather warm!!!!
Anyway put the old coil back on and she started 1st time
