    heritage certificate

just heard from the heritage motor centre after making an enquiry re the manufacture date of my latest aquisition-it was registered 23-01-74 (it was my intention to get a full certificate later due to the april 1st 2014 relaxing of the historic vehicle tax) but they have just informed me that the build and dispatch records are missing!! anyone else had this? is there any other way to verify the manufactured date as obviously from next april it should become tax free judging by discussions with chassis nos on previous threads on here. It
has really taken the wind out of my sails if i can't prove the date of manufacture to dvla.

According to records, the first car built in 1974 was LD31153, so if yours is before that then it should be fine. The SOC should be able to supply you with a letter to that effect which will be acceptable to the DVLA.

Funny that i received nearly the same reply but my dispatch date was available.
But i do know the previous owner had a full heritage certificate. Maybe they just want the full price
        Cheers Glenn

            Hi Dave,

this is really helpful to me too as mine is LD308058 so must also be tax free - who at the SOC though can issue such a letter?

            Cheers!

              Hi Mike,

I'm not sure who. I would have thought either the Club Archivist or Historian would be able to help.
