Most difficult job on a Stag?

I have carried out most jobs on my Stags, but now, I think have found the most difficult. My heater control cable p/n 519258 was broken at the control lever end. I have bought a new cable but cannot get the twisted end onto the control lever. I have gone through a packet of elastoplast and every swear word in my vocabulary to no avail. I think it would be easier if I were a dentist used to working on the top teeth with a mirror, but I'm not.
Anybody got any good ideas?

Sweat and determination? (I had to do mine recently).

One other idea: if you have a local mechanic, go and ask him a general question about their ability, and try to get him to boast a bit about how good he/she is. Then get them to do it. Pride should keep the bill down (or not).
