    What a plonker!

Had to leave the Stag outside for a few days in the horrendous rain we've just had and it misted up inside. Decided to run it up to temperature and get the heater going.
While it was warming up I decided to wash and leather the body.
    So far so good.
Nice and clean and time to put it under the carport.
    The door won't open!
Only just bought her and haven't had a spare key cut doh!
Well at least I know that the Kenlowe is working properly
Did I wait for her to run out of fuel - not with half a tank full, I would have to wait a whole hour lol
I managed to winkle open the passenger quarter light a tad and then gradually eased it backwards and forwards until I could reach the knob and open it fully.
    Breathe large sigh of relief.
    Give myself a mental slap.
    Order spare key
    What a plonker!

Sorry to hear that, but can I politely pint out that you have just publicly announced how to break into a Stag!!!!

No he just pointed out how to get the keys from the ignition with the door locked. If you wants to break into a stag smashing the quarterlight would be way easier and quicker

Well, I tried it on the driver's side and it wouldn't work so I guess you're half right

Par for the course. The usual one is to proudly post all details of what anti-theft devices you've installed, with your other various posts showing pics of the car on the drive and your profile stating where you live!

I lost the keys to mine a week after I brought it, they are very easy to get into like most old cars, lucky I had made a note of key numbers so could order 2 sets, but felt very stupid, I never lose things normally
            cheers Drew

The thread could be moved to the members only area if we're that worried. Don't think entry into a Stag is too difficult to work out though tbh which is why an extra layer or 2 of anti theft is important. I go for the subtle approach at home - park my 2 tonne 5 series in the way

If I were you Drew, I might take my postcode out of my location block though

How can I move it to the members area? I don't think my Postcode is shown. I've just looked at the profile but I may be looking at the wrong part!

A few years back, a Forumite on the Escort RS site had employed a similar method. He parked his XR3 between the gate and the RS2000 Mk2. They came with bolt cutters to open the gate, then they removed the rear screen from the XR3, released the handbrake and pushed the XR3 out across into the road and left it straddling the road......... and nicked the Mk2 RS !

Ocheye, a moderator will have to move it. I was referring to Drew in post #6 about the postcode, I'm not sure I know your Christian name - if it is Drew that's a coincidence

                      Cheers

Whilst holding the outside handle in the "Up" position press in the inside handle bottom lock lever and bingo when you shut the door the car is locked without having to use a key - simple (providing you have remembered to remove the key from the ignition). Works on both doors.

Not sure if Mk1's are like that Terry, my car won't do it which has Mk1 locks.

You all missed the other easy way to break in to a stag, use a Stanley Knife on the hood. That's how some low life got in to my neighbors MX5 a few years ago.

We won't mention that some back windows have a zip tang on the outside? hence why my car is always fitted with a Crook lock and Hand brake and Gear selector lock, both of which are Sold Secure certified.

                            Ian.
