    Stag webbers webber conversion

    Hi ,

Having fitted stagwebbers coolant conversion, and just about to fit tonys alternator re pos bracket..... i am thinking after xmas to buy the webber conversion kit .... any one fitted one before , are they easy to fit , do you have to set it up etc .

    regards paul

I fitted a Weber earlier this year. I bought on e bay, but it was like new. It was very easy to fit, everything you need. However, I did need to go up on the idle jet size but that was easy to do. I still need to set it up properly for the idle mixture. The engine feels much livelier with the Weber compared to the Stombergs (they were worn). Hope that helps. Andrew

Should have mentioned that the instructions provided are very clear for fitting and setting up. There are 2 mixture screws for the idle circuit (one for each choke) and an idle speed screw (tick over) that are used for setting up. Andrew

If I can do it - anybody can.......

I still need to play around with settings. It is now a very reluctant cold starter, but ticks over nicely once going. It doesn't chuck out black soot anymore, but I'm not blaming the Strommies; they needed some TLC.
You might need to buy an oil catch can as well; I've just installed mine and I'm not seeing fumes from the carb anymore.
(did the timing today and it is spot on for a Federal engine; engine is running great).

Paul, The Stagwebber vendor is an active member of the forum - vmad, i'm sure he can offer advice if needed, plus there are plenty of other forum members who have fitted the carb who can share their own feedback - I am happy with my Stroms

I fitted one of Chris's Webber, Instructions are very good and I think its probably the best thing I have fitted to the car as far as improvements go .

I bought mine second hand and it had been rejetted following some rolling road sessions. I tried a set of recon Stroms before I fitted the Weber and they were worse than my original pair. I'm happy with the Weber, car starts easily, ticks over well and runs fine, only down side from my point of view is the occasional whiff of oil which I didn't have with the Stroms.
I have an oil catch tank fitted.

I bought my car with a Webber Conversion and an oil catch tank. The engine was leaking oil badly from multiple places, which was largely down to various hard and worn out oil seals, but with the lack of suction on the crankcase that the Strombergs produce I think the oil leaks were exacerbated.
Anyhow Faversham Classics have stripped down the engine and now all new oil seals, plus I have gone back to original spec carbs and the engine runs well and performs like it should. There's very little crankcase combustion blow by, so the reason for the oil leaks is a bit inconclusive, but lets just say there's a risk, as one is leaving the crankcase with atmospheric pressure, rather than negative pressure, and there's another forum on here somewhere that mentions this.

I am now running a breather system with a PCV valve which gives a similar partial crankcase vacuum. This is working well on my car and can be used with any alternative fuelling system, Holley, EFI or Weber.

                        Who supplies this breather system?

                            Details please!
Applies for my Holley and future EFI
There is no doubt, without a slight vacuum in the crankcase the Stag engine is a little leaky.

No one yet, I made it myself.
