    Daughters driving test

I'm over the moon for my youngest daughter who today passed her driving test first time. My eldest also passed first time so I guess they take after dad ( well I did pass 4 th time so maybe not )
I now have to try to restore my car whilst buying young one a car. I'd better get back to work.
So who passed their test first time and are they better drivers ?
    Now be honest

      Congrats to your daughter.

My eldest son passed on his second attempt which brought him down a peg or two as he thought he was the worlds best driver due to his Go-Kart race experience.
I passed the following 1st time:
      Car
      Motorbike
      Road Roller
      Tracks vehicle
HGV 1 and my HGV 3 second time round.

Well it was 1961 and I took my driving test in my father's Ford Popular which was difficult to drive with only 3 forward gears and no "synchro" on first so you had to "double de-clutch" to get it into first. Never had any lessons so failed miserably both 1st and 2nd times after which went to a local driving school and learnt how to pass my test in a Triumph Herald saloon. Much easier car to drive and after 6 lessons sailed through my test at the 3rd attempt. I think driving the Herald 1st kicked off my love affair with Triumph Motor Cars as after several 2nd hand cars then a new Mini-Cooper my 1st real sports car was a Triumph Spitfire which was eventually replaced by yet another later model Spitfire. The 1st car I bought myself after passing my test was a Morris Minivan (all that I could afford).

              Good on her Edd

I managed mine at the first go - a week after my birthday and with my arm in plaster

              Cheers

My youngest turns 17 Friday, so we're off to the local business park Saturday with a fresh set of L plates.

Think I'll start her off in the Defender!

                PS: well done Edd minor

I think I got into bad habits with mine. It was the day when as soon as a mate passed you jumped in and drove with them. Crazy looking back. I remember him saying I had passed and not believing what I was hearing.i jumped into mums mg midget and off I went with the top down crunching gears I think most of us would fail a test due to little habits we pick up. Like not looking in the mirror three time every second

I've just done an IAM course and they say you should be looking in the mirror at least eight times a minute.

                    Cheers

Passed my car test second time, when I failed the first one it felt like the end of the world because it was all I wanted at the time. I had to wait 3 and a half months for the retest, which seemed an eternity. I'm not sure the wait did me any good, I drove like an idiot for the next year.
Passed bike, and both lorry tests first time.

2nd time in a real mini - great cars!
My sons (when 16 years old) learnt to drive through free high school programmes; for which I am grateful (no lessons to be bought). But i insisted they learnt to drive our manual transmission cars and that they took their tests in a manual, even though their buddies were all using automatics (they still get a full driving licence). But I've heard my work colleagues even say they can't teach their kids to drive, because their own car is a manual and their kid needs an automatic to learn
We bought both boys manual transmission cars once they passed (cheap >20 year old Japanese cars)

                            Well done Edd junior
