    when good is bad

    http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/595524.htm

I have seen this advertised for a few weeks and had to stop in and have a look today. It is quite remarkable. I havent really looked closely at concours type vehicles before but it is just wrong.

I thought that the drivers door gap was a bit out and the owner thought that was how they left the factory.

I have seen the ad before too and driven past the dealership loads of times recently, but never stopped by ( I always seem to be running late!)

Judging by the pics though I guess your saying this car is just too good, you would be scared to drive it anywhere. At that price, like a new car, the value is only going to go down, at least for the short to medium term.:?

          Ok

My previous post overlapped! Are you saying it's no way worth the money and not as good as the pics suggest?

It's all academic to me, I don't have 50K going spare ( nor am I likely to) and if I did I wouldn't spend it on a TR5, however good it was.

It's got me thinking though, if that much money landed in my lap and for arguments sake I couldn't pay off a chunk of mortgage, where would it go? Hmmmm:?

Shame its not on ebay - could have asked him if he was willing to break it for parts:P

I wonder what the answer would have been

Good God! Why would you spend 75K on restoration! Just to never drive it!

Does look good but only like a statue, it should do what is meant to,DRIVE and put a smile on your face, now its just like a museum exhibit and a rich mans toy to roll up and win a sham award of " Who's spent the most Dough! and heres an award! Ha Ha, Rubbish!

Always fancied a TR5 and that one is rather special, but it would probably lose £5k if a seagull dumped on it

The car is perfect (apart from a mm or so on one door )

It just looks wrong - it is in a showroom and is essentially a new car but the style is old. I cant imagine what someone would do withthe car - it would look good in a museumor if it was someone'slong-term project who had immense pride in their work and they liked to show itbut it is essentiallyabout size of wallet. It still has the little rubber hairs on the tyres!!

If I remember correctly, that car has been for sale for a very long time. Unless I'm getting confused with another I saw.
