    Anyone know how this works?

Hello all. Spent a cold but fruitful morning trying to work out why my drivers door lock wasn't working. Stripped door card out and worked out the actual lock mech (p/n 923335) appears to be ceased. From this photo (not mine found it on fleebay) I am trying to work out if this part should move (see arrow) up and down. I could buy a replacement but if there is a fix to this would rather take that option.

I also appear to have lost the following parts:- which are not available from Rimmer Bros

    576157 - Circlip
    577052 - Washer spring

Any suggestions on where to get the from? and on the lock mech would be greatfully received.

    thanks

I think it has to move as isn't that the rod that attaches to the external door handle? When operated it should release the door catch. Not quite sure what you mean by "up and down" though.

      Hello Johnny,

This lever should move up and down, but only if the flat lever (in your photo the one above) is in its position to the left, i.e. outside position. That flat lever is moved by the door button.

      Good luck,
      Dieter.

Good point - it won't move if the door is locked!

In what way was the lock not working in-situ?

If the key was just turning round and round with no resistance I suspect the connecting rod had detached from the door handle mechanism. Mine did this and i fixed it with help from this thread.

If other forum members do not have your missing bits, there are suppliers other than Rimmers who might be able to help. LD Parts, EJ Ward for example. There are also some advertisers in the back of the mag who might be able to help. Martin at Just Triumph is only down the M6 at Holmes Chapel and he may have some bits from cars he is breaking.

              Hi again
In answer to some of the replies I have received on this subject. The connecting rod I have reattached so can rule that out. Key turns with the connecting rod attached but the rod going into the catch assembly (sorry don't know what else to call it - but on the photo) isn't moving. So I am guessing that this prevents the latch from operating. The previous owner has sprayed over the catch assembly so maybe it never worked from day 1.

I have tried to find Just Triumph on 'tinertweb' but he is not showing up - anyone know his number. Think I'll also post on the 'wanted forum' as well to see if anyone has a spare.

Thanks again - great help from all.

www.justriumph.co.uk but the web site seems to be down at the moment. Emails to martin@justtriumph.co.uk get through or you could try martin@dimmick984.fsnet.co.uk.

Better try phoning Martin - 07766 240959 - he is often slow at answering emails.
