suspension kits

Can anyone recommend anywhere that supplies complete kits for the Stag, including the springs and dampers? I know Rimmers do a kit, but from experience i know that they are probably 20% over priced!

Are there any recommendations on specific damper types / brandsor the use of progressive springs?

I was also thinking of lowering the car, no more than half an inch. I dont really want a low rider - but after replacing suspension on previous cars with stock items the ride height is restored back to original and looks like it is on stilts! I quite like its current ride height.


If replacing the suspension would it be sensible to replace all the bushes at the same time with poly items? I dont want a rock hard sporty ride, i understand they do touring spec items, but previous threads indicate that these are also quite hard.

Tony Hart does lowering kits, he'd be a good source I would have thought. I've got Spax's all round on mine, seem OK to me, reasonably priced. Can't comment on the springs as I replaced mine with standard ones.

Know what you mean about ride hight, the front of my Stag is definately higher now I've replaced the old rubber spring insulators with poly. Hopefully it'll settle down with use.

Big debate Poly v Rubber, I've still got rubber on the rest of the suspension but when I next take the training arms off they're getting the poly treatment.

Hi Alastair,

Tony Hart does a very good lowering kit but have a look at the Monarch web site as you can pick different spring rates and alter the space between the arch and tyre .
