Bergerac's Triumph Sold

A snippet in today's Sunday Telegraph says that the 1949 Triumph Roadster 2000, driven by John Nettles in the T/V series of Bergerac, was sold last week by Bonhams in Harrogate for £20,000. The buyer lives in China so perhaps the car has gone to the owner of the the MG Rover Group just to keep things in the family!!!

I wonder if the buyer knows that at least two Triumph Roadsters were used during the run of programmes? A bit like The Saint's P1800 which has just been restored; this was only one of the cars used.....

It looks like he got a bargain , some dealer was asking £36500 for one at the NEC on Saturday !!!

A maroon Roadster with 1610J plates was on display at various places on Jersey over the years and it was pretty ropey when I saw it.


Incidentally 1610J isn't a Jersey registration. J1610 is though.

I remember these cars being on the road when I was a youngster. Large bulbous wings but I used to amuse over the dicky seats at the back.

I remember seeing this (or one of the others) in the Jersey Goldsmiths showroom in St Ouens Bay. This would have been the mid 80's and was in need of restoration then. It was always shown as Bergeracs car from the series. Sadly, the showroom is no longer there and I'm not sure if it's in their new location.

Yep, that's where and when I first saw it. When we went back (with the Stag) 5 years ago JG had moved and they had a DB5 masquerading as a Bond car on display. JG have now closed down completely.
