    Big Boys Toys

One of the salesmen at our local Audi garage was very smitten with the Stag last time I took it there, so I offered him a drive in exchange for one in the R8 V10 they had in the showroom. Well, they've only gone and registered it for road use, so today we had some fun. Took him for a spin in the Stag and let him drive it back to the showroom. He was very complimentary about the smooth ride - much smoother than some of the sport Audis. Then it was my turn. Out in the R8, roof down, for a 10-mile drive, with me driving it back. What a bloody awesome machine! I have never been in anything that accelerates as fast as that thing. And the sound, especially in sport mode! I don't think my licence would last very long if I had one of them for any length of time......

Nice! Definitely a machine on my bucket list. That's quite a new one there with the new lights and the continuous indicator strip on the rear lights. Sound should be good - most of it came from Lamborghini (Audi owned, of course)

Brilliant. Guy who worked with me had one until the VAT man had it back....They are awesome and very useable for a "supercar", can't get 4 in though Dave.
Paul - 3 projects, 1 breaker - garage built and housing 2 white Stags. One runs, one doesn't

Seat position is almost 'boringly' practical. Like an A6! Luggage space is completely naff though. Stag sill trims from Stoneleigh could be a real problem.

Brand new, Drew. Only 330 miles on the clock. It was in the showroom, but some plonker wanted a test drive and managed to scratch both near side wheels. Barely touched them, but they couldn't put it back on display, so registered it and it's now parked on the forecourt with a £125,000 price tag! Apparently the wheels can't be refinished and new ones are ridiculously expensive - over a grand each.

As for luggage space, forget it. In the boot of my Stag is a full set of golf clubs, electric trolley, shoes, etc. as I had just completed a round. The R8 might be able to stow a pair of shoes, glove and a few balls!

That new headlight design is pretty naf. Looks like it's squinting. Mind you the old one with the LED hockey sticks was pretty grim too. Best design feature IMHO of the R8 was the treatment behind the doors up through the B pillar. It's gone on the convertible so it just looks generic like most other Audis.

Nothing like a discussion on something as emotive as design on a Saturday morning. Help clear the hangover!!
