Stag Mk 1 and a half

When I bought my car (1972 chassis LD 134780, engine LF013225HE), I was told it was a Stag Mk 1 and a half. Does this mean it was a factory evolution of the Mk 1, or does it refer to the fact that during restoration someone had added Mk 11 features like alloy wheels and a stripe down the side?

It has bits from a MK1 and bits from a Mk2. Mine's like that too. Not sure if all 1 1/2's had the same mix of parts, but mine has Mk1 doors, dash etc., Mk2 cooling system, (used to have) Mk1 wheels...

If I am correct MK1 1/2 refers to cars from '72-'73 which have Mk 1 interiors and wheels but have the cooling modification which were brought in to overcome the cooling problems found in Mk1 guise.

      This was my MK1 1/2 lovely!:X

I may be wrong but I think it has the thicker steel used in the Mk1 and the more reliable Mk2 engine. I was after a Mk1.5 for this reason but couldn't find one at the time.

Al, it just means the change over period, basically using up all the old Mk1 bits and adding the 'new' Mk11 parts. after looking at your car last tuesday i think you mainly have MK11 parts - even your interior is Mk11 - most of the other MK1.5 i have seen have MK1 interior.

i'll lend your my 'bible' which is the original triumph stag book by James Taylor (not the singer) and you will be able to work out exactly whats MK1 and whats MK11
