    Very Exclusive Restaurants

I've heard about some pretty exclusive restaurants in my time but this has to be taking the p***.

So exclusive that the majority of us on the Canterbury Stag Owners Christmas run couldn't even be in the picture!

Just got back from our overnight run to Tekapo. 270 miles return and the first major run for my car after it's rebuild. (Averaged 29.9 MPG or 9.4L/100km which is the same as I get out of my Company Mazda 6).

This was a really good event organised by Bryan & Gina Perry. Only thing better than the scenery was the company. The weather was better than forecast and it was almost all done topless.
The Red Stag Restaurant is in Fairlie which paradoxically is fairly remote and takes a fairly long time to get to.
    Tekapo is not too shabby.

But I should show the lupins.. they're everywhere.

Better show the ladies too Helen, Gina,Brenda, Helen & Merilyn

    Tekapo 2.jpg
And the guys Phil, Bryan, Malcolm, Nick & John

See it's all about the people and places - I managed to not take any pictures of the cars at all.

You certainly do have some stunning scenery down there.
Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

Beautiful scenery indeed. The chapel of the Little Shepherd brings back memories of a great holiday long ago; it is a stunning part of the world.
Now, can you send us some of that weather, please?

The Little Shepherd Church is a functioning church the view from behind the altar is hard to beat - but a little hard to photograph with a cheap camera. Who needs stained glass.

              Your Lupins or your life!

Some of the sadder Stag owners down here spent the weekend at an alternate classic car event sitting in a cool windy park five minutes from Christchurch barbequing bacon. Other than the bacon it sounds pretty tame.

I'll have you know I'm a first class shot

we get together here as canterbury triumphs, but the duke of Cumberland in barham doesn't seem quite so appealing now

I just Streetviewed it. It looks lovely - little park opposite. One thing we lack down here are proper country pubs.

Yes it is nice really. A case of the grass looking greener I guess

Grass is definitely not greener but having a population on one million in an area the size of England & Wales has some advantages... except for all the bloody Stags on the road

Whilst you were leading your mottley crew of hearses down some boring piece of road in the windiest part of the South Island trying to break the fuel consumption record for a Triumph Stag without a diesel engine conversion, I had the extreme pleasure of frying some fabulous home smoked bacon in the middle of a beautiful meadow surrounded by some stunning examples of Austin Cambridges. The sight of all those classic car owners sniffing the air and gagging for a bacon sarnie was pure delight.

I notice Nick hasn't told the forum he got his missus to download an app on her phone to check his speed and hence accurately work out his fuel consumption to 5 decimal places. Sad git! (Him not her)

So can anyone put Nick out of his misery and advise if they have exceeded 29.99765 mpg fuel consumption in a TV8.

Been a mighty long time patiently waiting to get my Stag bodywork finished. Patience finally ran out yesterday when I saw the same bit of body filler sitting on the front valence all week. So I took a baseball bat down to the bodyshop today and blow me down if the paint man didn't reckon to having the car painted this coming weekend. Yee ha! Giving it the Vinnie Jones lookalike routine from Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels still works here in NZ.

                        Cheers all

I can vouch for the driving in NZ, I spent 3 months touring around with a mate. We had a rear wheel drive car which was great fun on the un-tarmaced stretches of road especially the one marked '4 wheel drive vehicles only'. We did loose the tailpipe on that one!

                            Regards
